Today we celebrate MLK
I wish I could’ve walked with him back in the day
I wonder how he would feel about us all today
Would he be surprised how far we’ve come
Would he cheer our president like other nations
He was an inspiration to more than one ethnicity
His message was one without color for every baby
That’s why I stretch forth my hand in friendship
Let’s share together as if we are kindred spirits
Dr King like others today I salute you
Although I never met you, I know I miss you
You’re an example future generations should look to
Parents teach your kids his teachings to aspire to
One day well be judged by our character
Not by our color, until then look inside
Gather all of your strength and courage
To speak from the heart and encourage
That through his vision, we all can dream
