Seriously not even a Pen

Here we are with another ramble for you guys. This one is about all the students I see/saw in college who seemed to never have a book, book bag and as the title says not even a pen in their possession.

My first thought was to think maybe these individuals just were that gifted intellectually that they only needed their impressive minds to be able to retain all the information that the professors were giving to us. Here I am struggling to carry not only books for class, but a laptop, a mouse for the laptop, notebooks, pens and pencils shoot I even had water bottles to sate my thirst in class. I must not be doing this college thing the right way I thought.

So I watched these students to see how they were so adept at this ability to never have anything in their possession for taking notes or writing down homework assignments. What I found out was truly enlightening, these students not only didn’t carry books or writing instruments, they didn’t even have to pay attention in class either. They could absorb the information through their headphones or through osmosis as they slept at their desks.

This part here is the topping on the cake, pie, tart whatever confectionary delight you want to use. These exceptional students didn’t even need to study after class or sleep. As they would be out in the courtyard from when class was over and sometimes until class began the next day. This really angered me as I was so far behind that I came home from class each day and had to not only study but get homework assignments accomplished. If only I had/have the abilities that my peers seemed quite skilled in, I would be much more than what I have become.

As you can tell by the thick and purposeful sarcasm in this story, I find it deplorable to come to college and basically waste your time by not even trying to make it. Why spend your parents money or student loans or worse your own hard earned money, to basically be a college slacker? There are plenty who would love to be in your shoes, who would take this opportunity and run with it. It aggravates me to no end, because I can see that a lot of these students are talented but have either been placed in a position they didn’t want to be in or was forced upon them.

In the end its all up to that student for their success, but that wont stop me from proclaiming… “Seriously Not Even a Pen”
