Stepped outside the house with knees creaking and screaming
The temperature feels as if it’s four hundred degrees outside
Stumble run across the street on my bad gimpy surgically repaired foot
Going for my three-mile jaunt around this picturesque area
See the elderly woman slowly pacing towards the hose to water her grass
A family walking their golden brown retriever across the street as I pass
The Weed-Man lawn service truck is stationary and running while it’s,
Occupant shoves periodicals on doors
School buses careen by as they haul off children in their final days of school
Cars speed down the highway as if they will never make it to work on time
Sanitation engineers drive by and wave as they run their routes
The city road worker blocks off the road, I amble by to finish the route
Limp the last fifty feet of the three mile trek, enter the house and close the door behind me.
